cyanotype

The cyanotype, also called blueprint, was developed in 1842 by the English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel. It is a process for the production of stable photographic images that is based on iron. The iron forms blue crystals under UV light. The solution that has not been transformed into crystals is washed out with water. The image is created directly in the paper.
